Aussie Millions Attendance 2012

Wednesday 25th January 2012

aussie millionsLike most stories nowadays, the focus often turns back to Black Friday and all the events that came with it last April, this story is no different. The Aussie Millions day 1c was expected to have poor attendance and not even come close to reaching last year’s total entrants on that day of 274. That was a prediction that was held to be true by a number of people, a number of people who were all proven wrong yesterday because at the end of registration there was a whopping 317 players registered. It wasn’t simply recreational players either, there were a lot of pros looking to make away with big money.

Phil Ivey made yet another appearance at the Aussie Millions, same too with the guy that won it all last year, David Gorr. Phil Ivey made a name for himself yesterday and finished in the first 5 with around 184,000 chips. Melanie Weisner, who you may remember recently joined team Lock Poker, finished in 11th on the day. Robert Lam currently holds down the top spot of the leaderboard and is the owner of 198,400 chips.

What is surprising for a lot of people is that the directors of the Aussie Millions have not yet released how the pay-outs will look for the Main Event. It is expected that the champion at the final table will take home around $2 million because that is more or less what normally happens. In 2009, with 681 participants, the cash for the champion was still around $2 million. This year there is a similar tally of players with 655 and one would more than likely expect a similar amount of money to be handed out to the winner. As always, stay tuned for more online poker news on the Aussie Millions and other live events around the world.
