James Akenhead Cashes Out Big

Friday 27th January 2012

james akenheadJames Akenhead is both a live and top online poker player that flies under the radar a bit. He contends for wins and is a pretty consistent player, but when reaching the finals in events he always seems to bow out just a little too early. For example, after making it to the final table at the 2009 World Series of Poker, Akenhead had to settle for a ninth place finish. While winning the PokerStars Sunday Million is in no way a live event, with the type of money Akenhead is taking home I don’t think he is going to mind.

By winning the $215-buy-in Akenhead is able to cash out about $213,000. Akenhead is a skilled player and no one doubts that, but he needed a little bit of luck to be the last man standing at the end of PokerStars Sunday Millions. In one hand in particular Akenhead was given a K-10 as his cards. He then accidentally bet far more chips that he had wanted too, and was called by a player who was sporting pre-flop pocket Queens. In most instances Akenhead would have been buried for that hand, but the flop saw him in pretty good shape, landing two pairs from a K-10-7 draw. He went on to win the hand, this added a lot of cushion to his stash of chips and helped him see his way to the end.

Congratulations to James Akenhead, but you can do the same exact thing as he did. Every Sunday on PokerStars there is this same event. The $215 buy-in is only one of the avenues you can use to get into the event. There are plenty of cheaper ways to qualify for the Sunday Millions as well, check out PokerStars today for full details and to get a piece of the action for this coming weekend.
